When you think of exercise, what image comes to your mind? For many people, the first thought is the gym. However, with people working from home and the gyms being closed, you can still absolutely get fit without a gym. Check out my list of ideas for your next workout!

Work It Out To Videos. There is a workout video to match every interest and intensity level. You can subscribe to a streaming workout service like Daily Burn or an app like Nike+ Training Club, search the extensive workout videos on YouTube, use a fitness app, or start your own exercise video library at home. There are so many options that you truly could do a different workout every single day.

Don’t Forget About Walking. Walking is the simplest, easiest way to move your body. You can do it just about anywhere and only need a comfortable pair of shoes to start. Enjoy a walk while you run an errand or chat with a friend. Increase the intensity by walking more quickly or adding weights. You can always turn your walk into a jog or run, too.

Use Your Body. Bodyweight exercises require no equipment and are effective! Put on some music and do squats, lunges, pushups, jumping jacks, mountain climbers, and high knees. Or if you prefer, you can do bodyweight exercises in multiple short breaks throughout the day. The ACE Fitness Online Exercise Library is an excellent resource to find exercises with or without equipment.

Climb the Stairs. Stairs are an ideal way to fit in some exercise into your day. If you have stairs at home you can climb up and down them periodically to add in bursts of exercise throughout the day.

Build Your Own Home Gym. For a modest amount of money, you can add small pieces of workout equipment to your “home gym” that will add even more variety and resistance to your exercise routine. If you start with light dumbbells, resistance bands, and a jump rope, you will get a lot of use out of them.

This is just a short list to get you started on your workouts. When it comes to exercise, the ways we can move our bodies are endless. Whatever workout you choose, make sure you are having fun; this will make it more likely you’ll keep doing it!
