There are so many varieties of bread on the market, however, all bread is not created equal. Bread is not evil and can definitely be added to your meal plan – but choose wisely.

When choosing bread, look at the back of the package for credible information. The front of the package is just MARKETING!

Here are a few things to look out for:

  • Look for products where the first ingredient is 100% whole wheat flour.
  • Next look for at least 4 g fiber /100 kcal.
  • Watch for added sugars!
  • Don’t shop by color

Don’t be afraid of bread! Enjoy in moderation and try to limit yourself to 2 slices per day (approx. 150 kcal).
